Non-Profit Storytelling
Grand Prixmiere / Pope Francis Center
Every year, the Detroit Grand Prix holds the Grand Prixmiere fundraiser the night before the race begins. The Grand Prixmiere raises money for many great Detroit non-profit organizations like the Pope Francis Center, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, Detroit Public Safety Foundation, Belle Isle Conservancy and the Detroit 300 Conservancy. These two videos showcase the Pope Francis Center and their work to '“feed, serve and empower” individuals experiencing homelessness in the City of Detroit.
John’s Story
After years as a chef and running a restaurant, John experienced losses in his life and eventually became homeless. At the Pope Francis Center’s Bridge Housing Campus, he’s found stability and a path forward. Back in the kitchen, where he feels most like himself, John now cooks for others facing the same struggles he overcame.
Nutrition and Hygiene Program
On an average day, the Pope Francis Center’s Downtown Detroit location welcomes nearly 200 guests and provides them with nutritious meals, showers, laundry, and access to doctors, dentists, lawyers, and more. This video highlights the center’s nutrition and hygiene services and showcases the impact of the Grand Prixmiere’s fundraising efforts on those experiencing homelessness.
