Non-Profit Storytelling & Fundraising Campaign

Developing K.I.D.S.

What began with 27 kids in 2007 has grown into a movement. Kim Johnson founded Developing K.I.D.S. – short for Developing Kingdoms in Different Stages – to nurture leadership, growth, and community in Detroit’s youth. Today, some of those original students are still part of the program, working with the next generation of kids. This video was created to support their Village Campaign, a major milestone to help fund and renovate a new building that will allow them to expand their program from 600 to 1,000 children.

Developing K.I.D.S. provides after school and summer camp activities for kids from ages 5-18 in 60 different Detroit zip codes through workshops that focus on leadership, social skill development, health, education, entrepreneurship, art, culture, college access, career exposure and so much more. They also support families through various resources and community referrals. I spent several days with the team getting to know their program to tell this story for their community.
